R is for Royalty

It's day... R in the A-Z Challenge, so please, check in before it's too late!

And today is Royalty. Look, I was going to do yet another character from my would be fantasy novel, but I'm just not feeling it right now. So I started drawing this morning - because I'm not working today - with the idea that I was going to have to post something soon. I didn't actually have a plan.

In the end, I ended up with some prince-ling guy in a toga being lazy, speaking of which, I couldn't be bothered to draw whatever it was he was sitting on. But then again, I'm doing these really quickly.

So, I see lazy royal person and I think, How can he look so bored? He should totally take up a hobby. But I decide to not continue thinking about that.

Good thing he's wearing that toga. It's funny that these drawings you whip up in a couple of hours I could spend days and not get anything half as good.

heheh, i had the immediate same thought as Pt up there about the toga. lol

He looks bored 'cause his glass is empty?? ;)

I add my agreement to the above! I'm trying to sketch out some fantasy characters as I build their bios but mine look like dog doo...

Yep. I also had the same thought about the toga. Maybe he's not bored. Maybe he's just massively hungover and thinking, "Dude. Where's my pants?"

Awesome picture as always.

You've really captured the idea of a bored and possibly self serving princeling here.

Well done with the sketches Rusty. My drawing is limited to stick figures...

Yeah, the good thing he's wearing a toga came to my mind as well...

Cool image! I love your style.

My "R" for today is Role Playing Games. I've got a link in it to Shatterworld, the fantasy world I'm designing.

Love the shading in his crotch.

But seriously, he looks completely bored with himself. Such a waste. Maybe the king should send him out on a quest or something.

I don't think so many people have ever been so glad about a toga before. :P

He definitely looks like the lazy prince type . . .

His face definitely marks him as royalty. He seems arrogant. The pose emphasizes that. Great drawing.

"I wear a crown so you'll have to bend to fist bump with me." After studying him, I think he looks a little angsty and drunk. But not happy drunk.

I agree about the toga. I think it's really awesome that you did sketches for every day. My art looks the same as when I was in kindergarten.

Ooooh...art! How do you draw it? I like the golden-watercolor-ish style!

Here from A-Z--and I'll be back!

I think when royalty gets bored they take up fighting with the Pope and beheading wives :-)

He looks like he's at a party or something with his drink there, wishing he weren't. Quick, someone get the man anther, stat. Otherwise he might turn to beheading like Annalisa said.

Nice toga shot. ;) He does look like a dissipated roue, bored with all he surveys knowing that he owns it. You've got a great drawing here. I am in awe of your skill because I can't do anything that would remotely resemble a human being.

He needs a stein, not that wimpy little champagne glass.
